An Investigation into the Origins and Subsequent Qualitative Inner Life of Universal Media

The installation explores, separately, the content/form relationships present in industrial automation - and - the medium of communication by developing a universal symbol language that allows workers and artists to communicate across barriers imposed by language. Ultimately, an interaction is developed between this media to illustrate the absurd resources we dedicate to automation and the removal of humans from the process of work.

The work is influenced by my own labor experiences working as an electrical engineer in the aerospace industry (sub field of cabin safety and regulatory) and as an artistic toolmaker at afterlife laboratories. Featured in the installation are my kinetic works: mechanical video switcher and mechanical animation generator.
