Get out of my head / Get into my head / leave my head alone

2017, multi-media performance

Get out of my head / Get into my head / leave my head alone explores the notion of psychological transference applied to a broad range of entities and ideas. The building blocks that construct our perception are often mysterious, systematic, and manipulative. Using performance, motors, sound, video, and light sensors, we have constructed a controlled environment by which to compare stimuli unaffected by a system of mechanical controls to another version of this stimuli, one manipulated by a deliberate system, displayed on monitors and projections. Video from a performance is guided through a series of light controlled circuits, all determined by the frequency of an electric motor. Get out of my head / Get into my head / leave my head alone calls into question the truth we are seeing and hearing and the complex influences that go into our perception of this truth. - Kevin Harris
